Bullets for discussing the HHS Mandate

NOT about contraception. It is about RELIGIOUS LIBERTY and the free exercise of our First Amendment rights

  • The First Amendment:  Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;

  • The Catholic Church is NOT trying to limit access to contraception

  • The Church does not want to be forced to pay for these services; it is morally abhorrent to the Catholic Church to pay for things it holds as immoral.

  • The Catholic Church is a target but any religious institution can be.

  • Insurance companies will increase premiums to cover these services, therefore the “accommodation” does not change anything.

  • To qualify for an exemption from the mandate, the Catholic Church and other religious organizations would have to cease hiring and serving persons of any other faith but their own. Thereby, government is forcing religion institutions to discriminate which it has heretofore considered illegal.

  • It is NOT a “war against women.” No other institution has done more to protect the dignity of women. The real war against women is pornography, human sex trafficking, abortion.

  • Exorbitant fines to institutions not complying with the mandate

  • The United States of America was founded on the very principle of Religious Liberty and it is this gift the USA has given to the world. It cannot be taken away or the very foundation of this country will be destroyed.

  • This mandate gives unprecedented power to the Executive branch of government and can be used to forced citizens to do others things in the future which will be equally reprehensible.
